winter-tree-583675_640The chilly snow days are calling, and there are plenty of fun winter activities for you and your children to enjoy. Whether you want to decorate your yard or exert some energy, there is something out there for everyone. If you’re looking for something new to try, check out these four fun outdoor winter activities.

Ice Skating

This slippery and athletic activity can be tricky for those just starting out; but once you get the hang of it, ice skating can be fun. Typically the youngest age to begin this activity is around four or five. Once you get the hang of it, it can also lead into other activities such as hockey, speed skating, or figure skating.

Build Something

If you have enough sticky snow, building can be a rewarding outdoor winter activity. From snowmen to igloos, there is something for every construction level.

Go On a Winter Expedition

Grab a camera, gear up, and head on out. Winter can be just as fun to go out exploring as any other season. Take pictures of the winter landscape and other captivating things you come across.

Have a Treasure Hunt

Winter is a great time to have a treasure hunt. You can make clues that refer to snow banks or other landmarks created by the snowy season, or just send everyone out on a hunt for the biggest snowball or the strangest shaped icicle they can find.
