3 Essential Oils that Will Change Your Parenting World

essential-oilsI will admit that I was not always as much of a natural parent as I am today.  I have friends who are much more natural than I am still but I like to consider myself a conscious parent.  I do not choose extra immunizations or unnecessary medications.  I try to avoid having them take anything that is not natural.  So essential oils were a very natural choice for me when I heard about them.

There are so many things that I would love to share with you but there are some basics that I feel even parents who do not choose natural parenting are going to love. They are so beneficial and easy to use.  For most of these you just put a few drops into a diffuser or you put a few drops into a roller ball with fractionated coconut oil.

Lemon Oil

Are you trying to lose weight?  Do you want your children to drink more water and less juice?  Then lemon essential oil is a choice that you should make.  Make sure that you are choosing a great of oil that is safe for consumption (some are not) and then just add a few drops to your water bottle. This can be life changing for anyone who wants to help their digestive system or who wants to enjoy water when they might not enjoy it already.

Lavender Oil

Lavender oil is a great choice for anyone who has ever spent a sleepless night up with an infant who wanted to play.  I love being able to roll lavender oil on my kids’ feet and knowing that they are going to sleep better.  In fact I find that when I use lavender oil in a diffuser in their room that they wake up less and sometimes actually spend the entire night sleeping in their own room.  Lavender oil can also help to heal wounds faster.  My three year old actually comes and asks for lavender if she has any type of boo boo.  When she was just two and a half she actually carrier her lavender everywhere with her.

Peppermint Oil

Have you ever been up worrying about your child having a fever?  Peppermint oil can help give them relief from their fever.  You can just roll it onto their spine.  Peppermint oil is also great for headaches and I love how it can instantly cure one of my bad headaches without knocking me out or making me feel tired.  I end up feeling much better and having longer lasting relief than I do with most medications, even those prescribed by a doctor.

There are so many additional uses for essential oils.  Children with asthma and breathing issues can find relief when the right oil combinations are used in their diffusers.  They will still need their medications but they might not need them as frequently.  I have noticed a bit difference personally in the amount of times that my husband and son use a breathing machine or inhaler.
