3 Beneficial Reasons Your Child Should Go To Preschool

It’s surprising how little thought is given to preschool until friends or family begin asking questions about school plans for your 3 or 4 year old. While it may seem far away, preschool registration begins early, typically during January for the following fall school year. In most states, preschool isn’t mandatory. However, it does offer a great academic and social foundation for your child to learn from. From structure to development, here are three reasons you should have your child attend preschool.

  1. Preschool Prepares Kids for Kindergarten

Face it, kindergarten has changed over the years; and although it does still offer plenty of ‘play’ style activities, it is becoming more academic every year. Thankfully, preschool offers a chance for your child to continue with their play time, while still preparing them for the academic nature of kindergarten.

  1. Structure

Although children may not see the highly structured aspect of the preschool classroom, there are plenty of rules utilized for organization and success. Classrooms encourage social interaction, and provide rules to help minimize conflict, noise, and/or congestion.

  1. Promotes Emotional and Social Development

For a young child to learn from a teacher, they need to feel safe and cared for. Preschool offers your child the chance to spend time away from you on a part-time basis, and offers them the chance to learn social skills from experiences in class.
